On  Tuesday, January 17, we lost a friend, coach, mother, and overall one of the greatest individuals I have met in my life.  Coach Kim Jones lost her battle with cancer this week.  She did not go down without a fight.  Many of you may have heard that she passed away on Friday of last week......well guess what......she stuck with us until Tuesday.  We all know that Coach Kim would not go without a good fight.  Believe me, there were many times when Coach Kim and I did not always see things the same way.  Coach Kim Jones and I shared the pool deck as coaches at WSY since about 2003.  Prior to coaching at WSY, Kim was the head Coach at Lebanon YMCA.  Coach Kim was also an assistant high school coach at Cumberland Valley. 

Coach Kim is survived by her parents Elmer and Patty (Maw Maw),  daughter Carrigan (Puddy) and  and daughter Kendall.  Carrigan currently swims for Hershey Aquatic Club under the direction of a great friend Greg Fastrich.  Carrigan possesses the same strength as her mother.  Most of us have seen Carrigan swimming since she has been 5-6 years old.  Swimming is "the world" to Carrigan, and she is now in a situation where she needs the swimming community.  In the obituary above there is an address for donations to be sent in Coach Kim's memory.  What is also important at this time is the swimming community come together to help Carrigan with expenses of swimming and living her life as a happy 16 year old.  Currently Carrigan is a Junior at Hershey High school, and is enjoying a great year both academically and athletically.  I don't know too many 16 year olds that could go through what Carrigan is dealing with.  Coach Kim's sister Beth is caring for Carrigan, but she will need our help.

If you would like to make an online donation to Carrigan ( Puddy ) Eckel's College fund.  Go to www.fishburnumc.org click on fishburn church ,then click on the donate button and make your donation . When you are finished send an email to pastorjohn.umc@verizon.net indicating that your donation is designated to The Carrigan Eckel College fund. 

If you would like to write a check please make it payable to Carrigan Eckel and put in the memo line College Fund .

We need to keep Carrigan swimming at Hershey Aquatic Club.  As we all know there are certain fees associated with swimming on a team.  I have made a personal donation to Carrigan for $200.....to keep her swimming.  I know there are many of you that will be able to at least match my donation if not more.  I challenge the swimming community to come together and get these donations to Hershey Aquatic Club TODAY

Donations of ANY AMOUNT may be made payable to Hershey Aquatic Club and sent to the attention of Chistine Drexler - 28 Penzance Road, Hershey, PA  17033
